What Miele calls look like in Toronto
The condo version of a Miele call has a shape to it. The W1 and the T1 live in a utility closet with the furnace, the tank and the HRV, behind louvred bifold doors opening onto a hallway a metre wide. The machine comes forward about thirty centimetres before it meets the door track. Pump, drain hose and the inlet with its Waterproof System valve all have to be reached inside that.
Two faults account for most of the visits. Something has found its way into the drain pump, which is a five-minute job on a machine standing in a basement and a forty-minute one here. Or the Waterproof System has cut the supply and locked the machine out, and the cause has to be found before it will run again. With someone living directly underneath, that system is why a small leak stayed small.
One practical note for the older buildings, and East York and Midtown have plenty: many suites have no isolating valve for the laundry, and the riser is controlled by the building. If that is your setup, say so when you call.

Miele repair in Toronto — questions
Our suite has no shut-off valve for the laundry. Does that stop the repair?
It does not stop it, but it changes the plan. Where the riser is controlled by the building, the shut-off has to be arranged with the superintendent, usually a day ahead. Tell us at booking and we schedule around it. Dry work — pump, filter, door seal, controls — goes ahead regardless; anything touching the supply hoses needs that valve closed.
The G7000 threw a fault after a power cut. What now?
Kill power at the breaker for a couple of minutes rather than at the switch, and give it a full restart. A hard reset clears a fair share of post-outage faults on these machines. If the fault returns, it is real and worth attending. Outages hit a whole stack at once, so we often take three calls from one building the same morning.
How much room do you need in the utility closet?
Enough to bring the machine a foot clear of the frame and kneel in front of it. In most suites that means the bifold doors come off their track first — leave that to us, since setting them back straight is part of the job. If the closet also holds shelving, moving it beforehand keeps the work inside the closet instead of out in your hallway.
