What Bosch calls look like in Toronto

Two useful things hide behind a panel-ready Bosch door: the model sticker and the evidence. The sticker sits on the inner door edge, visible the moment the door swings open, so photograph it when you book and we arrive with the right parts. The evidence is water, which on these machines collects in a base pan under the tub where nobody thinks to look.

That base pan is the whole Aquastop story. A float sits in it, and a slow seep from a sump gasket, a spray-arm seal or a cracked condensation channel will eventually lift that float. The machine then shuts the fill valve, pumps continuously and shows E15. Owners hear a dishwasher that will not stop draining and assume the pump has failed. The pump is generally the one healthy part in the sequence.

Drainage is the other half of the downtown workload. In Leslieville, East York and The Beaches there is often barely two inches behind the machine, so the drain hose gets crushed flat when the unit is pushed back into the run. Because these machines are quiet, none of it announces itself.

What brings us out to a Bosch in Toronto

  • 01

Standing water in the sump each morning: check valve or a crushed drain hose.

  • 02

E15 and endless draining — the base-pan float has found a slow seep.

  • 03

Custom door dropping under its own weight, which is stretched door cables, not hinges.

  • 04

Cycle stalling with a full tub soon after a new sink disposer went in.

Bosch repair in Toronto — questions

The dishwasher shows E15 and will not stop pumping. Is the pump failing?

Almost never — the pump is the one part doing its job. What matters is where the water in the base pan came from, and that is the visit: pan dried, machine run through a full cycle on the floor protector, seep traced to the seal or channel that let it go. Until the pan is dry the float stays up and the fill valve stays shut, so resetting at the panel changes nothing.

It stopped draining a week after a new sink went in. Coincidence?

Rarely. When a disposer is fitted, the knockout plug in its dishwasher inlet has to be driven out, and it is the step most often missed — the dishwasher then pumps against a solid wall of plastic. The other version is a drain hose kinked behind the new trap. Both are short visits, and we would rather find that than sell you a pump you do not need.

Will the custom cabinet panel be marked coming off?

It should not be. The panel is held by screws through the inner door and lifts away as one piece. We bag the hardware, lay the panel face-up on a blanket and refit it to the same marks. In Forest Hill and The Beaches, where a panel often matches a whole run of millwork, we photograph the alignment first so the reveals go back exactly as they were.
