What the spot needs to have

Five minutes of checking now saves a rescheduled visit later.

PowerA dedicated outlet, usually under the sink. Some older installs are hard-wired, which is fine — we work with what is there.
WaterA hot water shut-off valve under the sink that closes properly. If it is seized, that gets sorted before anything is connected.
DrainA connection at the sink trap or disposal. If the disposal is new, the knockout plug must be removed — a forgotten plug is the single most common cause of a brand-new dishwasher that will not drain.
OpeningStandard 24-inch cabinet opening with enough depth for the machine and its connections. We measure before pulling the old unit out.

Three mistakes we get called out to fix

  • Skipping the drain high-loop

Waste water siphons back into the machine between cycles. You get standing water, a persistent smell, and dishes that never come out properly clean — and it is present from day one, which is why people assume the machine is simply bad.

  • Forgetting the disposal knockout plug

The dishwasher cannot drain at all, and it looks exactly like a failed pump. We are called out to new installations for this regularly, and the fix takes two minutes once you know.

  • Over-tightening the water connection

Cracks the fitting or crushes the ferrule, producing a slow drip behind the machine that nobody sees until the cabinet floor swells.

— FAQ

Dishwasher Installation questions

Can you install a panel-ready dishwasher with my cabinet door?

Yes. Fitting and aligning a custom panel takes longer than a standard machine because the door has to sit flush with the run of cabinetry, and that alignment is what people actually notice. The rate stays a flat $250 plus HST.

Do you remove the old dishwasher?

We disconnect and pull it out as part of the job. Whether we can take it away depends on the unit and the building — ask when booking and we will tell you plainly rather than deciding on the day.

What is a drain high-loop and why does it matter?

It is a simple loop in the drain hose secured up under the countertop, and it stops waste water flowing back into your dishwasher. Missing high-loops are the most common installation fault we find in new builds, and correcting one permanently fixes odour and standing water.

How long does the installation take?

About an hour for a straightforward swap, longer for panel-ready units or where plumbing has to be corrected. We run a full cycle and check for leaks before leaving — that final test is not optional.
