Sub-Zero Appliance Repair in Toronto & the GTA

We repair Sub-Zero built-in refrigerators, freezer columns and wine storage across Toronto and the GTA. These are units built for a 20-year service life fitted into cabinetry worth more than most appliances, so we work to factory spec and book the time the job actually needs. Service call $120 plus HST, 60-day parts and labour warranty.

— What we see most

Common Sub-Zero problems

Dual refrigeration means the fridge and freezer have separate sealed systems — one can fail while the other works perfectly. Vacuum condenser cleaning is a service we do on its own, not just as part of a repair.

  • 01

Condenser clogged with dust, unit running warm

  • 02

One side cools, the other does not — dual compressor systems

  • 03

Ice maker stops producing after a defrost fault

  • 04

Door gaskets hardened, condensation on the frame

Why OEM parts matter on Sub-Zero

Sub-Zero sealed systems are matched assemblies, and the electronic controls are specific to each series. A generic evaporator fan or an aftermarket control board on a 650 will run — for a while — and then produce faults that look like a completely different failure. On a refrigerator at this price point, saving forty dollars on a part is not a saving.

  • Factory parts on anything touching the control or sealed system
  • We tell you when an aftermarket part is genuinely fine and cheaper
  • Part numbers go on your invoice, so the next technician is not guessing

Sub-Zero 650 Not Cooling

A Sub-Zero 650 in a Kingsway kitchen stopped holding temperature while the freezer ran perfectly. The condenser told most of the story — here is the rest.

What affects the repair price

  • The part itself — a door switch and a sealed-system component are different worlds.
  • Age and brand — luxury built-ins need factory-spec parts, and those cost more.
  • Access — a stacked unit in a condo closet takes longer to reach than a free-standing machine.

We do not publish repair price ranges. Senior Discount — $50 applies on top of the quoted job, and there are no trip surcharges or weekend premiums.

— FAQ

Sub-Zero repair questions

Why is only half my Sub-Zero cooling?

Because it has two separate sealed systems. Dual refrigeration means the fridge and freezer each have their own compressor and evaporator, so one side can fail completely while the other holds temperature perfectly. It narrows the diagnosis considerably and it is normal for this brand rather than a sign of something strange.

How often does a Sub-Zero condenser need cleaning?

Every six to twelve months. It is the single most valuable maintenance you can do on these units: a condenser packed with dust makes the compressor work harder on every cycle, and running warm is the first symptom. We offer vacuum condenser cleaning as a standalone service, not only as part of a repair.

Is a 15-year-old Sub-Zero worth repairing?

Usually yes, which is not what we would say about a 15-year-old mass-market fridge. These are built for two decades of service, parts remain available, and the alternative is replacing a built-in fitted into custom cabinetry. Sealed-system work is the one place we run the numbers with you carefully before proceeding.

Can you remove a built-in unit without damaging my kitchen?

That is exactly what the extra scheduled time is for. Panels come off in order, surfaces are protected, and the unit is walked out rather than dragged. We also carry $2 million in liability coverage, which property managers in the downtown towers routinely ask to see.
