— What we see most

Common Haier problems

Haier has owned GE Appliances since 2016, so newer North American models draw on mainstream parts channels while pre-2016 imports can still take a week.

  • 01

Roll-bond evaporator punctured with an ice pick during defrosting, cooling gone for good

  • 02

Compact fridge icing at the back wall because the manual defrost never gets done

  • 03

Portable washer stalling mid-cycle on a drain pump packed with hair and lint

  • 04

Ventless dryer running three hours and still leaving the load damp

Why OEM parts matter on Haier

A compact carries a small refrigerant charge, and the cold control is matched to it — fit a near-equivalent thermostat and the cabinet swings between frost and warm without ever settling. Wine cellar boards and fan assemblies change between production runs, so we order against the full model and serial.

  • Factory parts on anything touching the control or sealed system
  • We tell you when an aftermarket part is genuinely fine and cheaper
  • Part numbers go on your invoice, so the next technician is not guessing

What affects the repair price

  • The part itself — a door switch and a sealed-system component are different worlds.
  • Age and brand — luxury built-ins need factory-spec parts, and those cost more.
  • Access — a stacked unit in a condo closet takes longer to reach than a free-standing machine.

We do not publish repair price ranges. Senior Discount — $50 applies on top of the quoted job, and there are no trip surcharges or weekend premiums.

Haier repair questions

My Haier compact fridge is icing up at the back wall. Is the defrost broken?

Usually not a fault. Most Haier compacts cool with a plate evaporator on the back wall and rely on you switching them off periodically to let the frost melt. Left running, the ice builds until air can no longer circulate and the cabinet warms. Defrost it fully first. If it ices over again within days, the door seal or the cold control is the reason.

Do you repair Haier portable washers, the ones that connect to a kitchen tap?

Yes. Most of what goes wrong on them is mechanical: a drain pump jammed with hair and lint, a lid switch that no longer confirms closed, a split quick-connect coupler at the tap, or a worn pulsator drive. They live in condos where a leak reaches the neighbour below, so we run a full fill and drain before leaving.

My Haier ventless dryer takes hours and the load is still damp. Is it faulty?

Give it a proper look before calling it faulty. Ventless drying is slow by design — a condenser dryer moves moisture into a tank or a drain line rather than blowing it outside, and a full load takes far longer than a vented machine. Beyond that, check the lint filters, both of them, and the condenser. A blocked condenser doubles the cycle time.

My Haier fridge gurgles and clicks in a small condo. Is that a fault?

Most of it is normal. Compact fridges use small compressors that run at a higher pitch than a full-size unit, and the gurgling after the compressor stops is refrigerant settling. What is not normal is a rattle that changes when you push on the cabinet, a buzz from the rear panel, or a compressor clicking on and off every few minutes. Levelling the feet fixes a surprising share of complaints.
