Electrolux Appliance Repair in Toronto & the GTA
Steam hardware and capacitive touch consoles are what separate Electrolux from the mass-market platforms, and they are what we see fail. We repair the front-load laundry, French-door refrigerators, dishwashers, electric wall ovens and induction cooktops across Toronto and the GTA. Service call $120 plus HST, written quote before any work begins, 60-day parts and labour warranty.

Common Electrolux problems
ICON built-ins are still in plenty of Toronto kitchens, and parts for that line now take a day or two to source rather than sitting on a shelf.
- 01
Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch consoles going dark or ignoring half the keys
- 02
Door lock refusing to confirm, the cycle dead and the laundry shut in
- 03
Steam valve scaled shut, steam cycles running as ordinary warm washes
- 04
Wall oven hinges sagging until heat escapes over the top of the door
Electrolux model lines we know
These are the series we work on regularly — parts channels, service procedures and the quirks that come with each generation.
- ICON
- Perfect Steam laundry
- EI and EW French-door refrigerators
Why OEM parts matter on Electrolux
Consoles here are matched to the main board by firmware revision; a panel from a near-identical model lights up and then drops keys at random. Steam valves are sized to the cycle they feed, and a generic valve overshoots, wetting the drum instead of steaming it.

What affects the repair price
- The part itself — a door switch and a sealed-system component are different worlds.
- Age and brand — luxury built-ins need factory-spec parts, and those cost more.
- Access — a stacked unit in a condo closet takes longer to reach than a free-standing machine.
Electrolux repair questions
My Electrolux front-loader will not start and the door stays locked. What now?
The door lock assembly is the first suspect on these. It has to confirm to the board that the door is shut before anything runs, and when the solenoid or the microswitch inside it fails, the machine sits there with the load trapped. There is a manual release behind the lower panel to get your washing out. The assembly itself is a common part and a short job.
Half the keys on my Electrolux touch panel have stopped working. Can the panel be repaired?
Not repaired in any lasting way, no. Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch consoles are a capacitive membrane bonded to a board, and once moisture or heat has got into the layers, the dead zones spread. We do check the ribbon connector and the main board first, because a communication fault produces the same symptom for a fraction of the cost.
Is Electrolux the same as Frigidaire underneath?
Same parent company and some shared plants, so a fair number of pumps, valves and motors cross over — which is good news for parts availability. The differences that matter to a repair are the controls, the steam hardware and the door and hinge assemblies, all of which are Electrolux-specific and priced closer to a European brand than to Frigidaire.
My Electrolux steam cycles do not seem to produce any steam. Is the machine faulty?
Probably scaled rather than broken. The steam valve meters a small amount of water onto a heater, and the orifice it passes through is narrow enough that a few years of Toronto water will close it up. Descaling sometimes brings it back. If the valve coil has gone open circuit, it is a replacement, and we test the coil rather than guessing.
